Stitch Up, Look Sharp
Stitch Up, Look Sharp is a collaborative project created by Make Mee Studio, social housing provider Lewisham Homes
and female empowerment charity BelEve UK. We secured funding from Travis Perkins to run a series of creative sewing workshops that run in tandem with skills & empowerment programme. Taking place at Deptford Lounge with thanks to The Albany,
Deptford.
The project creates a safe space for fifteen 12-16 year old young women to explore themselves creatively whilst also improving employment and education opportunities. The design focus is on sustainability, using only industry waste and up-cycled garments to collaboratively create their final collection.
We also look at how you can use your voice to inspire social change. The workshops will culminate in a showcase of their work which they will curate, helping them to develop event management skills and create ownership over their work.
