Fabric Swap and Recycled Wreath Making

Sewing Social Enterprise Make Mee Studio and material sharing platform Destasher are joining forces for an eco friendly crafternoon (13.00 - 16.00) at Catford House in South East London. Book both events or just one and join in the fun! You can make a day of it and grab a festive drink or delish pizza too.
Destasher will be holding a fabulous sewing swap, inviting makers to bring good quality preloved fabrics (1 meter +) as well as patterns or haberdashery that are looking for a new home.
And if you’re wanting the perfect Christmas craft activity for all ages, why not join our festive wreath-making workshop where you’ll create a head-turning Christmassy showpiece that’s kind to the planet by using scraps of colourful and sparkly fabric leftover from our sewing classes and a surprise recycled ingredient. You’ll craft a fabulous festive wreath that’s as unique as you are.
This simple and accessible craft activity can be taken on by people of all ages and abilities, including your little ones. It’s a great way to get creative while making happy memories with all your favourite people. Please note, children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
How the Sewing Swap Works:
Bring along good-quality, clean sewing fabric remnants or pieces you've just fallen out of love with (1 meter or more). Label its length and fibre content, if known. You're also welcome to bring patterns or haberdashery items you're looking to clear out.
Drop them off at our tables and grab a drink at the bar!
Explore what other makers have brought to the tables. Take what inspires you, leave what you can share, and connect with fellow sewists!
*** Feel free to drop in and out throughout the event. And even if you don’t have anything to swap, do come along! You may find something that will spark your next sewing idea!
How the Wreath Making Works:
There are two separate sessions for wreath making. Book onto the time you would like to come and you can join the swap before or after if you are doing both!
No need to bring anything, we have plenty of options and gorgeous things to make your wreath but, if you have some special fabrics you can bring them along too to add into your design.
Suitable for children 6+ but we ask for parents/carers to accompany and assist their child for the whole workshop. If you want to make a wreath each please book multiple spots, if you want to make one together please just add it in your order notes so we can keep an eye on numbers in the room!

This course is suitable for everyone, complete beginners welcome.
This workshop is open to children aged 6+ and adults. We do ask if your child is aged 6 - 10 that you please accompany them, simply book 2 spaces as you can make a project each.
