We've helped the people of Lewisham mend over 500 items of clothing and textiles at our free drop in repair classes over the last 18 months!
What an accomplishment, saving them from the incinerator, or charity shop or rag bag. Here is the exact moment we hit 500 in our studio 👇

Why is it so important?

According to WRAP most recent estimates point to the UK discarding 711,000 tonnes of post-consumer textiles into residual black bins and general waste at Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs). This is the equivalent of almost 30,000 shipping containers full of cast-off fashion and home textiles items a year!

& Textile sorters are at breaking point! They pay out a whopping £88 million to dispose of our used clothing.

Repairing something keeps it in the loop for longer and also importantly WRAP also found through their survey that for every 5 items repaired, 4 displace a new purchase!

Meaning people are buying less new stuff too!
